In Zuehlke’s work, colour and light become the formative forces behind images that fill the space. One example of this is ‘Fairway, 2021’. In seemingly abstract spatial compositions, she sets clear colour tones against each other in striking contrasts. Her strong sense of artistic identity unconsciously testifies to a unique understanding of colour that she lives out in her work. This gives rise to Zuehlke’s own systems, with their own rules and laws, which operate with opposites such as beginning and end, fullness and emptiness.
