Maria und Natalia Petschatnikov
* 1973 Leningrad
Current
Maria and Natalia Petschatnikov are constantly reinventing themselves as artists. In the true spirit of conceptual art, they adapt their techniques and materials to suit each theme. They stage their paintings, drawings and sculptures as large-scale installations that blur the distinction between painting and object through numerous trompe l’œil effects. The ‘Dogs’ series is dedicated to Berlin’s dogs and their owners. They are both individual and anonymous, part of their owners yet distinct personalities in their own right.
The artists’ work is exhibited in numerous art galleries and museums, always in elaborate, site-specific installations.
